Our Ancient Vines Mourvèdre offers distinct chocolate characteristics and a
luscious deep plum flavor. Tannins are soft with a substantial mouth-feel.
Wine Advocate 88 points - The 2012 Mourvedre Ancient Vines is a 100% Mourvedre aged eight months in 25% new American oak. The tannins are sweet and there are no rustic characteristics in this meaty, dark ruby/purple-tinged wine. Notes of blueberries, raspberries and cherries intermixed with camphor and soil undertones are found in this medium-bodied, supple, delicious Mourvedre. Drink now-2017. (Nov 2014)
Nicely saturated ruby tones lined the glass, and very open aromas of blackberry, baking chocolate and a wild, woodsy spice emanated. Full bodied, this had concentrated flavors of blackberry, blueberry, along with leather, caramel and wood-spice. Chewy, mild tannins were present, giving some structure in this more fruit driven representation of the grape, distinctly California and having little in common with French Mourvedre, such as Bandol rouge. – DJO 04/12/14
