“Surprisingly youthful, with a dark ruby/purple color revealing no signs of age, this wine seems more compact and tightly knit than many vintages of Guigal's Cote Roties. Full-bodied and powerful, with good acidity and outstanding concentration and extract, this wine has aged at a glacial pace. Although not complex, and somewhat monolithic, the 1979 La Landonne is loaded with fruit, glycerin, and body. The balance is there, so perhaps it is just a question of further patience. Anticipated maturity: 1998-2015”.
