This cool climate Pinot showed a purple/pink center with medium saturation, fading to a lighter salmon pink edge. The nose was very vibrant, with a very pure fruit character of ripe black cherries, strawberries, and vanilla spice. Medium bodied, with good acidity, this wine displayed great balance with toasty cherry fruit, dried herbs, and a silky texture, with perhaps a touch of heat showing on the finish. It was nice to see a California Pinot that didn’t taste overly extracted, all its components were in the right place, and for quite the modest price.
