Red wines from Spain have made a huge splash in the marketplace as quality has improved in the past decade. Iberian whites -- also the beneficiaries of improved winemaking -- have yet to get the same recognition. It's a shame because, like their red counterparts, Spanish whites are great values and exceedingly food friendly. This Verdejo from the Rueda region is no exception. Medium-bodied with a juicy, fruit-salad quality, it's a natural partner for salty, savory tapas, but it also tasted great with a Thai dish of garlicky calamari over rice.
