With dark red into almost black hues, and very good saturation throughout, leading to a nose of ripe dark fruits, baking spice, and toasty oak. A very friendly, fruit forward style on the palate, with chocolate and raspberry tones, cassis, moderate acidity and velvety tannins in a medium-full bodied format. This was a huge hit at the tasting as a southern Italian wine that seemed true to its origins, while still being very accessible to American wine drinkers.
