A fine, voluptuous wine with a seductive nose and a more structured palate. Succulent, perfumed and refined, this is a textbook Margaux from a first-rate vintage. Perfect for drinking now but equally has the quality to age and mature if so required. This is a wine with impeccable religious heritage - the property was created by monks four centuries ago. Back then it was known as Prieuré-Cantenac, now it's Prieuré-Lichine, and this is the estate's second label, sourced from 24 hectares of prime Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot vines. The property also has its very own winemaking dream team: Michel Rolland and Stéphane Derenoncourt are two of Bordeaux's golden boys, well known for crafting wines of intensity and character. The excellent weather in 2005 - dry, sunny, with the odd bit of rain - helped out and the result is a wine of scent and power, with aromas of dried flowers, wood smoke and cassis. This wine is a great match for full-flavored meat dishes such as calf's liver with bacon or roast rib of beef.
