Windisch Kerner Auslese - Fritz 750ML
Sku: 12829

Tasting notes
A very pale gold with some green tint. An open-plus nose; the aroma is dominated by a mix of herb and floral scents that again make me think of sage and mint. (Yes, I rinsed my glass before trying this wine.) There's also a strong floral component there, so that I'm hard-pressed to find a fruit scent other than a suggestion of pineapple. In any case, it is interesting, and I like it. Moving on: The mouth flavors are just as complex, though more subtle, and therefore harder to parse. The sage/mint is still there, but the pineapple has become more apple-like, and now there is some clean mineral showing itself. Interesting, and pretty good. Medium body, moderately sweet, smooth and almost creamy, with very modest acidity.
Kerner is a cross between two grape varieties: Trollinger and Riesling, that was developed in Germany in 1929. Getting to the point, this is an interesting wine, and I would like to try it with a mild smoked ham, perhaps as a ham salad with mayonnaise and apples. Again, it was fairly popular with our tasters.
