Very good saturation; blackish ruby with a touch ofviolet. An open-plus nose; very ripe black berry/plum aroma is a good mix of fresh and jammy tones, with good freshness, fresh-cut lumber/mint, and some floral notes. Good! There's plenty of taste in the mouth, with dark berry/plum/cherry fruit, more jammy than fresh in tone, dark chocolate, and a fair amount of the fresh wood taste that is taking on a dominant role vis-a-vis the fruit. Okay, but not quite my style. Very good body, rich, matte tannins, with good acidity.
I was quite okay with this until the raw wood hit me in the mouth. We sold a fair number of bottles, so it may just be me. |
