| Tasting notes |
Moderately-good saturation; ruby with just a hint of garnet. An open nose; the ripe black-/raspberry aroma is fresh and sweet, with just a hint of a jammy tone to it. a touch of mineral, brown spice and black pepper, and faint floral notes. Very nice! The flavors in the mouth are consistent, though the fruit is slightly muted, and the mineral comes forward. Good. Medium-good body, some richness, round and smooth with soft tannins, and modest acidity.
This estate is located about 10 miles south of the Dordogne River opposite the Cotes de Castillon appellation which is on the north bank. We are assuming that it might be made at a nearby cooperative winery that they belong to, and that this batch was kept in tanks or vats for most of the last 10 years (as it has no sediment). In any case, it is quite pleasant, well balanced and easy to enjoy! |
