Modest saturation; nice ruby hue. An open nose; ripe fresh cherry aroma has good sweetness, purity, and a gentle concentration and tenderness that one looks for in Pint Noir. The cherry carries over to the mouth, though it is a little darker here, more black than red fruit in tone, with good intensity in the middle palate, and good mineral in the finish. Very tasty! Good body, some small richness, modest matte tannins, and modest-plus acidity.
The Haut-Cotes de Beaune appellation covers a lot of ground to the west of the Cotes de Beaune proper. This light-to-middle weight Pinot Noir has very good basic character in a modest sized package. It is quite pleasing, and will serve well during these warm spells we've been having recently. |
