On Sale $24.99 Moderately good saturation; blackish ruby with a distinct garnet overtone. The wine has a moderately-good open nose; the ripe dark cherry aroma is accurately Pinot Noir-ish, with a mix of fresh and jammy fruit tones, and faint vanilla and spice notes that combine to create a floral-like character .Something subtle in the bouquet that is mint or citrus-like adds a nice freshness to the nose. A lovely bouquet, though not a huge one! The palate follows the nose with a good mix of fresh and jammy dark cherry/berry flavors, and a somewhat richer dark chocolate-like dose of flavor from the oak ageing, and a small note of mint that comes along with that. Very good. It has good body, with some richness (15% alcohol), is smooth, with soft matte tannins, and modest acidity.
The mix of richness of the wine with the delicacy of the Pinot fruit makes for an interesting composition. This might best be served with milder beef or lamb dishes, but could also work well with a rich poultry or even vegetarian stew. It's ready to drink now and in the near-term.
